After almost 11 months out of competitive action, Caeleb Dressel will return at the Atlanta Classic from 12-14 May.
The seven-time Olympic gold medallist won the 50m butterfly and 4x100m freestyle relay at last year's World Championships in Budapest before pulling out of the 100m freestyle semi-finals for undisclosed medical reasons.
Having kept a low profile since then, Dressel is believed to have returned to training in March and was spotted at a USA Swimming relay camp last week.
The Florida native won five golds at Tokyo 2020 in 2021 to add to his two relay titles from Rio 2016.
In his two World Championship appearances before Tokyo, in 2017 and 2019, he amassed 13 golds and two silver medals.
Dressel will be gearing up for the U.S. Nationals from 27 June-1 July which serve as qualifiers for the World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan in late July.
