Surfing great Kelly Slater is set to become a father again after 28 years.

The 11-time world champion and his longtime girlfriend Kalani Miller have announced the pregnancy in a shared Instagram reel on Tuesday, 19 March. The black-and-white video sees them walking along a beach to Ben Harper’s “The Three of Us”.

Slater, 52, and Miller, 36, have been together for 16 years and this will be their first baby together.

The USA surfer has a daughter from a previous relationship, Taylor Slater-Kelleher, who was born in 1996 and is a recognised photographer and painter.

Slater has competed at the top circuits of the sport for more than 30 years and is considered one of the greatest surfers of all time.

He received a wildcard for the second half of the 2023 WSL Championship Tour, which kept his hopes of securing a quota for Paris 2024 alive. However, as five other USA surfers, including current world No.1 Griffin Colapinto and two-time world champion John John Florence, finished higher than him in the rankings, Slater is set to miss the upcoming Olympic Games.
