Skateboarding continues to permeate Japan post-Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with the launch of yet another marquee event.

Uprising Tokyo - a street-only competition - will be held from Friday (26-28 May) at Tokyo's Ariake Arena, one of the newly built venues for Tokyo 2020 that has gone on to host some of Japan's premier sporting events.

Fittingly, the inaugural Olympic men's street skateboarding champion Horigome Yuto will be in the house. Horigome helped produce the park for Uprising Tokyo.

Joining the Japanese star will be Olympians Shane O’Neill, Shirai Sora, Nakayama Funa and Nishimura Aori.

Household names such as Ishod Wair, Jamie Foy, Paige Heyn, Oda Yumeka and Akama Rizu will also be joining the party aiming to mix competition with the culture of the sport.

The full list of athletes, subject to change at any time, can be found here.

Uprising Tokyo will start with the quarter-finals on Friday, semi-finals on Saturday and the final on Sunday to close out the weekend.
