The top two female players in world badminton will face each other in the women's singles final of the Singapore Open 2023.
World number one Yamaguchi Akane of Japan and second seed An Se Young from Republic of Korea both won their semi's on Saturday (10 June) to reach the title match.
Yamaguchi beat China's Chen Yu Fei 21-10, 18-21, 21-16. An was a straight games winner over Tai Tzu Ying in straight games 21-16, 21-14 to reach her eighth consecutive tournament final this year.
Defending men's champion Anthony Sinisuka Ginting made it through to his record third straight Singapore singles final. The Indonesian lost the first game to Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the other semi, but Ginting came roaring back to take the second 21-11, and the Thai shuttler retired in the third set while 6-1 down, struggling with his injured shoulder. Ginting becomes the first man to contest three straight Singapore Open finals.
Danish shuttler Anders Antonsen won the other men's semi, coming from behind to beat Japan's third seed Kodai Naraoka 19-21, 21-16, 21-17. Antonsen will be looking for his first world tour title for more than two years.
