For the fourth straight European Tour event, Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma will feature in the weekend’s rounds.

At the BMW PGA Championship in England, the 24-year-old Sharma finished tied-45th on Friday after carding an aggregate one-under (73-70) to make the cut. Compatriot Gaganjeet Bhullar, however, missed out.

Irishman Shane Lowry and Englishman Matthew Fitzpatrick lead the BMW PGA Championship with a score of 12-under, both carding an identical 67-65 so far. Briton Tyrrell Hatton is a stroke adrift in third.

After missing the cut five times in six European Tour outings earlier this year, Shubhankar Sharma has upped his game to make the cut in the last four starts. His best result of the year came at the Scottish Open last week when he finished tied-26th.

Starting the second round one-over at the Wentworth Golf Club in Surrey, Shubhankar Sharma had a steady outing wherein he carded five birdies and three bogeys to finish the round two-under.

Shubhankar Sharma, however, has had a mixed run at the BMW PGA Championship so far. In the opening round, he managed three birdies and a bogey in the first six holes but dropped three shots on the turn as he carded a double bogey and a bogey on successive holes.

Sharma, a two-time European Tour winner, finished the round one-over 73, with four birdies, three bogeys and the double bogey.

Third time unlucky for Gaganjeet Bhullar

Gaganjeet Bhullar started impressively with two birdies in the first-nine but it went downhill from there. On the turn, three successive bogeys meant that he finished the round one-over.

It went worse on Friday for the 32-year-old golfer from Amritsar. While he managed three birdies, Bhullar also carded six bogeys and a double bogey to end the round five-over.

Gaganjeet Bhullar carded six-over 150 on aggregate (73-77) and finished tied-103 to miss the cut, which was set at par.

Since his comeback to competitive golf this year following COVID-19 restrictions, Gaganjeet Bhullar has missed the cut in all three outings so far, including at the Irish Open and at the Scottish Open.
