India will field two teams in the 10m air pistol mixed team shooting event at the Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday.
Manu Bhaker will pair up with Saurabh Chaudhary while Yashaswini Singh Deswal and Abhishek Verma form the second team.
All four shooters will look to put aside their disappointing individual campaigns at Tokyo's Asaka Shooting Range.
Yashaswini Singh Deswal and Manu Bhaker, the world No. 1 and 2, respectively, failed to qualify for the final in the women’s 10m air pistol while Abhishek Verma couldn’t move past the men’s qualifiers.
Saurabh Chaudhary was the only one to advance to the final but could only finish seventh.
However, the Indian shooters have been in good form in the team events and start as favourites.
The teenage pair of Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary won gold medal at the New Delhi World Cup in March and followed it up with a silver at Osijek in June.
On the other hand, the more experienced duo of Yashaswini Deswal and Abhishek Verma bagged the bronze in New Delhi.
The teams will first contest in the qualification 1 stage from which the top eight will advance to qualification 2. From there, the top two teams will shoot in the gold medal match and the third and fourth-placed pairs will play the bronze-medal match.
