Having fallen four points behind league leaders AC Milan in the Serie A 2020-21 table, reigning champions Juventus will look to make up lost ground when they host Cagliari at the Allianz Stadium in matchweek 8.

Juventus currently stand fifth in the table with 13 points. It has largely been a start-stop season for Cristiano Ronaldo and co. with some underwhelming performances taking the sheen off their occasional flashes of brilliance this campaign.

Against an attacking Cagliari side, however, the Juventus players will be up against a stern challenge.

Under coach Eusebio Di Francesco, Cagliari stand 10th on the Serie A 2020-21 table but have been a potent attacking force lately, netting 11 goals in their last four league outings.

Central to their offensive prowess has been Argentine forward Giovanni Simeone - son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone. Brazilian attacker Joao Pedro and Giovanni have both been sensational this season and the two have already combined for 10 goals in this Serie A campaign.

While in Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata, Juve have a brilliant attack of their own, Pirlo will have headaches at the back. 

With both veteran defenders Georgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci set to miss the match, the Juve backline led by a young Matthijs de Ligt will have its work cut out against Simeone and Pedro.

Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey is still out with an injury while Adrien Rabiot and Federico Chiesa are doubtful after picking up knocks while on international duty.

Serie A table-toppers AC Milan will face off against Napoli while Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan entertain Torino in other key fixtures of the matchweek.
