The semi-finals are set in the badminton men's and women's team events at the 32nd SEA Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Malaysia's men and Indonesia's women are both guaranteed at least bronze medals after winning through their first-round ties on Tuesday (9 May).

Leong Jun Hao, Beh Chun Meng / Goh Boon Zhe, and Chia Weijie / Liew Xun all won their respective matches to help Malaysia to a 3–1 win over Vietnam.

Meanwhile, the Indonesians breezed through an easy tie against inexperienced hosts Cambodia, needing just 1 hour and 11 minutes to secure a 3–0 win thanks to Komang Dewi, Febriana Kusuma / Amalia Pratiwi, and Ester Wardoyo.

With both losing semi-finalists guaranteed to be on the podium, both teams will leave Phnom Penh with a medal of some colour.

The semi-finals are now set as follows, with matches to be played on Wednesday: Indonesia v Singapore and Thailand v Malaysia in the men's team event; Thailand v Singapore and Philippines v Indonesia in the women's team event.

Gold-medal finals in both events will be played on Thursday, with some players then heading to Suzhou, China, for the BWF Sudirman Cup world mixed team championships tournament.
