Few events capture the drama of the track like the men’s 1500m.

This race, dubbed the "Formula One of track races" by Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen, is a race that has seen rivalries ignite, champions dethroned, and records fall in the lead-up to Paris 2024.

From Ingebrigtsen's commanding victory in Tokyo 2020 to the stunning upsets by Britain’s Jake Wightman and Josh Kerr in the following World Championships, the stage was set for a final worthy of Olympic lore.

The 2024 season only heightened the anticipation, with Kerr and Ingebrigtsen trading wins and competitive banter on the Diamond League circuit. By the time the athletes lined up in Paris, the tension was palpable, with World Athletics president Sebastian Coe dubbing it "the race for the ages."

The Olympic final didn’t disappoint.

The familiar duel between Ingebrigtsen and Kerr took center stage, that is, until the USA's Cole Hocker rewrote the script in the last 100 meters.
