American Noah Lyles and Italian Marcell Jacobs will race in the 60m indoor distance at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix on 2 February, according to an announcement from the event organisers.

Lyles, Paris 2024, and Jacobs, Tokyo 2020, are the last two men to claim gold in the 100m at the Olympic Games.

The duo have a decorated past in the 60m distance, with Jacobs claiming the indoor world title in 2022, while Lyles took silver a year ago. The American will be looking for his fourth-straight victory at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in the event.

In Paris, Lyles won the 100m gold medal in a photo finish. Jacobs, who had been working through injuries in the years that followed his Tokyo triumph, took fifth.

The event forms part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold.
