Indian football club Odisha FC are set to take on Australia’s Central Coast Mariners in the AFC Cup 2023-24 inter-zone playoff semi-finals. The fixture will be played over two legs with the first scheduled on Thursday.

The first leg will be held at the Central Coast Stadium in New South Wales, Australia on March 7. The return leg in India will be played at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on March 14. The Odisha FC vs Central Coast Mariners AFC Cup 2023-24 matches will be available on live streaming.

Odisha FC are having a remarkable season and are leading the Indian Super League (ISL) table with 35 points from 18 matches. They secured their passage to the inter-zone semi-finals after bagging the top spot in Group D.

In the group stage, Odisha FC started their campaign with consecutive losses to fellow Indian outfit Mohun Bagan and Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Kings. However, Sergio Lobera’s side quickly got their act together to win the AFC South Zone group.

Odisha FC, however, are coming into this game following their first ISL defeat in 13 games. Chennaiyin FC downed Odisha thanks to a 94th-minute winner from former Central Coast Mariners striker Jordan Murray.

Central Coast Mariners, on the other hand, qualified for the AFC Cup inter-zone semi-finals thanks to a 3-2 victory over Macarthur FC, which saw them win the ASEAN Zone. They also had to overcome Phnom Penh Crown FC in the ASEAN Zone semi-finals before that.

The Mariners are also the reigning A-League champions but have endured a mixed season under new head coach Matt Jackson. Despite losing their first four matches this campaign, CC Mariners embarked on a strong run of form and are currently sitting second in the table, just three points off Wellington Phoenix at the top.

On the domestic front, Central Coast Mariners are on a three-match winning run. They will take on Odisha FC following a 1-0 win over Newcastle Jets with Josh Nisbet scoring the only goal of the game.

The team that wins this two-legged encounter will face either Kyrgyz club FC Abdysh-Ata Kant or Chinese Taipei’s Taichung Futuro in the zonal final next.

Subsequently, the winner of the zonal final will play against the winner of the Western Zone final between Al-Ahed of Lebanon and Oman’s Al-Nahda Club in the AFC Cup 2023-24 final.
