Swiss skier Marco Odermatt extended his lead at the top of the overall World Cup standings by winning the Super G race in Bormio on Thursday (29 December).
The 25-year-old's winning time was 1:29.27 seconds. He also took the lead in the FIS Alpine Ski 2022/23 season rankings for the Super G discipline with the victory.
Austria’s Vincent Kriechmayr finished second, 0.64 seconds adrift, a day after winning the downhill race on the Stelvio in Bormio.
Loic Meillard also of Switzerland was third in a race which was briefly interrupted by a dog running down the piste.
Norway’s Aleksander Aamodt Kilde finished in eighth to lose his lead in the discipline standings, and told Eurosport afterwards, "Odermatt is simply in his own world today."
Kilde remains second behind Odermatt in the overall World Cup standings on 617 points to the Swiss leader's 946.
Earlier in the day, three-time Olympic champion Matthias Mayer retired from skiing with immediate effect.
