Mumbai Marathon 2023 on January 15

The race will be back after two years and will start from Mumbai’s iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.

After being postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the past two years, the 18th edition of the Mumbai Marathon will now be held on January 15 next year, the organisers announced on Wednesday.

Mumbai Marathon is a World Athletics elite label road race and is traditionally held annually on the third Sunday of the New Year. The registration for the full marathon started on Thursday.

Apart from a full marathon, the Mumbai Marathon 2023 will also host a half marathon and other shorter events, including those for senior citizens and physically challenged.

All the races will be flagged off from Mumbai’s iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus.

Around 50,000 runners are expected to participate in Mumbai Marathon 2023 across different events.

In the 2020 Mumbai Marathon, Ethiopia's Derara Hurisa won the men’s event with a record time of two hours eight minutes and nine seconds.

Among women, Amane Beriso of Ethiopia took the gold medal with a 2:24.51. Kenya’s Valentine Kipketer holds the course record in the women’s full marathon with a time of 2:24.33, achieved in 2013.

In the last edition, Srinu Bugatha and Sudha Singh won the men’s and the women’s races for India, respectively.
