The Madrid Urban Sports 2023 will take place between Friday, 16 and Sunday, 18 June at the Madrid Rio Park in the Matadero area of the Spanish capital.
This year’s event offers music, art, and urban sports – including BMX freestyle, skateboarding and breaking, which will be featured at Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In the BMX freestyle and breaking competitions, there are also qualifying points for Paris 2024 at stake, so the participants will be eager to show their best tricks in Madrid.

BMX freestyle at Madrid Urban Sports 2023
Over 70 athletes will compete in BMX freestyle across three categories: men, women, and juniors.
Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Daniel Dhers, is the big favourite in the men’s competition, but the Venezuelan will face challenges from young prospects like Jude Jones who won the British national championship last year.
In the women’s field, Queensaray Villegas is determined to claim victory. The 20-year-old Colombian will be competing without her twin sister Lizsurley Villegas, who is injured. Teresa Fernández-Miranda, who won bronze at the 2021 BMX Freestyle European Championships, hopes to fight for the win on home soil.
Breaking at Madrid Urban Sports 2023
Breaking will make its debut at the 2024 Paris Olympics next year, which has generated a lot of attention for the sport.
The Madrid Urban Sports is part of the Breaking for Gold International Series, and this spectacle represents a great opportunity to witness some of the world's top breaking talents in action.
The top-level field includes Bboys such as Grazy, JohnnyFox, Xak, Nerup, Lil Dani and Rooty. Some of the best Spanish Bgirls such as Ana ‘Furia’, Raw Law, Sweet Spicy, Spooky, and Bgirl Lola will also be in action on Sunday 18 June.
Skateboarding at Madrid Urban Sports 2023
Skateboarding made its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, where it was one of five new sports included.
Forty-five riders will skate for glory at the Madrid Urban Sports. Local favourite Daniel León, who missed the last three editions due to injury, is finally ready to make his debut. Facundo Quiroga, Adriel Parmisano, Adrien Bulard and Iván Monteiro are hoping to challenge the Spanish skateboard king.
Keep en eye out for Brazilian teenager Virginia Fortes, who has participated in top contests worldwide such as the Dew Tour, X-Games, SLS, and World Skate events. Roos Zwetsloot of Netherlands, who finished fifth in Tokyo, will try to stand in Fortes's way.
