Sara Hector of Sweden claimed victory in the alpine ski World Cup giant slalom race in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia on Saturday (4 January), to boost her hopes of ending the 2024-25 season with a crystal globe trophy.
The Olympic gold medallist now leads the women's overall standings, and the giant slalom discipline rankings, after her impressive victory.
With home favourite Petra Vlhova and ski superstar Mikaela Shiffrin both out injured, the 32-year-old Swede finished in a time of 1:54:86 after her two runs on the Podkoren course, a full 1.42 seconds ahead of Lara Colturi in second.
Alice Robinson of New Zealand was third. Italy's Federica Brignone, who had led the GS standings, fell on her first run.
