The Indian Women's League 2023-24 football season will kick off on December 8, 2023, and run till March 24 next year.
The IWL, which has been running since 2016, is India’s top-tier women’s football competition. The upcoming 2023-24 season will be the seventh edition of the annual event.
For the first time in the competition’s history, the IWL will be played in a double round-robin format, where each team will play each other in home-and-away matches
A total of seven teams - HOPS FC, Gokulam Kerala FC, Sethu FC, East Bengal, Kickstart FC, Odisha FC and Sports Odisha - will compete for the 2023-24 IWL crown. All IWL 2023-24 matches will be live streamed in India.
Both Odisha teams will play their home matches in Bhubaneswar, while HOPS FC will play in Delhi, Gokulam in Kozhikode, Sethu in Goa, East Bengal in Kolkata and Kickstart in Bengaluru.
All the previous six seasons of the IWL were held in centralised venues.
Gokulam Kerala are three-time defending champions and will be favourites heading into the new season. Odisha, however, will be strong challengers, having signed Myanmar's all-time top-scorer Win Theingi Tun. Last season's MVP of the league for Gokulam, Indumathi Kathiresan, will also turn up for Odisha this season.
The IWL 2023-24 kicks off with Gokulam playing hosts to Sethu FC in Kozhikode.
