A 23-member Indian shooting team will compete at the ISSF World Cup Final 2024 in New Delhi from Tuesday, October 15.
Competitions in the ISSF World Cup Final will be held across rifle, pistol and shotgun categories. Indian shooters will compete in all 12 individual Olympic shooting events at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range. The events will be live streamed on Olympics.com.
The Indian shooting squad comprises nine members from the Paris 2024 Olympics team and includes 12 Olympians in total.
Rifle shooter Arjun Babuta, pistol shooters Arjun Singh Cheema, Anish Bhanwala, Vijayveer Sidhu and Rhythm Sangwan as well as shotgun shooters Rajeshwari Kumari, Shreyasi Singh, Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan - all part of India’s Paris 2024 squad - will compete in New Delhi.
Additionally, two-time Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan, Rio 2016 Olympian Chain Singh and Divyansh Singh Panwar, part of the Indian team at Tokyo 2020, are also included.
For the ISSF World Cup Final 2024, individual medallists at the Paris 2024 Olympics gained direct qualification.
However, Manu Bhaker and Swapnil Kusale, who won individual medals in the women’s 10m air pistol and men's 50 m rifle 3 positions categories, have skipped the World Cup Final.
Sarabjot Singh, who won the 10m air pistol mixed team bronze with Manu Bhaker, is also not part of the Indian squad in New Delhi.
Divyansh Singh Panwar (men’s 10m air rifle), Sonam Uttam Maskar (women’s 10m air rifle), Rhythm Sangwan (women’s 10m air pistol and 25m pistol) and Ganemat Sekhon (women’s skeet) made the cut for the ISSF World Cup Final based on their rankings.
The remaining Indian squad members secured their spots through the host country quota, determined by India’s domestic rankings.
Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, the most successful Indian shooter at the Asian Games 2023 is also not part of the team.
At the ISSF World Cup Final 2023 in Doha last year, Anish Bhanwala won India’s only medal in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol and will return to compete in the same event.
This year in the ISSF World Cup series standings, India are fifth with three golds, three silvers and as many bronze. The People’s Republic of China, with seven golds, seven silvers and five bronze medals, are on top of the table.
The ISSF World Cup Final 2024 will conclude on Thursday, October 17.
