India topped the ISSF Junior World Cup 2023 medals tally in Suhl, Germany, with a total of 15 medals - six gold, six silver and three bronze.
A total of 39 Indian shooters, including world championships medallists Simranpreet Kaur Brar and Dhanush Srikanth, competed at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2023.
Overall, 511 junior shooters from 46 different countries took part in the championships that started on June 1 and concluded on June 9.
The ISSF Junior World Cup, meant for under-21 shooters, featured events in pistol, rifle and shotgun disciplines, including individual and team events.
The Suhl meet was the only ISSF World Cup for junior shooters in 2023. The nine-day event will be followed by the Junior World Championships in Changwon, Republic of Korea from July 14 to 25.
Sainyam won the gold medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event to open India’s account at the Suhl meet on June 3. Dhanush Srikanth, in men’s 10m air rifle and Amanpreet Singh in men's 25m pistol event were the other two individual gold medallists for India in the competition.
India had topped the medals tally at the 2022 Junior Shooting World Cup in Suhl as well with 33 medals - 13 golds, 15 silvers and five bronze. Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary were part of that squad.
