Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu and Simranpreet Kaur Brar will lead a 39-member Indian shooting contingent at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2023 in Suhl, Germany, from June 1 to 9.

The ISSF Junior World Cup is for shooters under the age of 21 and will feature events in all three disciplines – pistol, rifle and shotgun.

Simranpreet Kaur Brar won a gold medal at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2022, also held in Suhl. The 18-year-old Simranpreet had topped the podium in the 25m rapid fire pistol mixed team event with partner Vijayveer Sidhu. She also won a silver in the same event at the ISSF World Championship in Cairo last year with Anish Bhanwala.

The 20-year-old Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu also won a bronze medal in the 25m pistol event at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2018 and bagged a silver in Suhl last year.

Dhanush Srikanth, who won a gold medal in the junior men’s air rifle team event at the 2021 World Championships held in Peru, is also part of the Indian squad. The 20-year-old also bagged two gold medals in the 2019 Asian Championships in Doha, Qatar. The 15-year-old Abhinav Shaw - a silver medal winner in the men’s10m air rifle at the ISSF Junior World Cup last year - will also be in the fray.

The Suhl meet is the only ISSF World Cup for junior shooters this year. The nine-day event will be followed by the Junior World Championships in Changwon, Korea from July 14 to 25 this year.

India had topped the medals tally at the Junior Shooting World Cup in Suhl last year, with 33 medals - 13 golds, 15 silvers, and five bronze. Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary were part of that squad.
