India’s star runner Hima Das and women’s shot put national record holder Manpreet Kaur will highlight the first leg of Indian Grand Prix 2023 starting at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on March 20. The event will be live streamed.
A total of four Indian Grand Prix athletics events will be held by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI). The Indian Grand Prix 2 will be held on March 27 in Thiruvananthapuram while the third and fourth legs will take place on April 10 and April 15, respectively, in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
The first Grand Prix will feature a total of 18 events - 10 for men and eight for women.
The events for the men include 100m, 200m, 800m, 5,000m , 400m hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put and javelin throw.
Women will compete in 100m, 200m, 800m, 5,000m, 400m hurdles, long jump, high jump and shot put.
The first Indian GP will see Hima Das take to the track in the 200m race. The Assamese runner, who holds the national record in the women’s 400m sprint, has rarely participated in big events due to recurring injuries.
