India's Tvesa Malik produced some fine stroke making to climb to the second spot on the leaderboard at the Ladies Open De France on Friday.

The 24-year-old golfer carded a commendable three-under 68 in her second round to build on an impressive Day 1 to take her aggregate score to four-under 138 (70+68).

Tvesa Malik trails Julia Engstrom of Sweden by four strokes and will hope to stay in the hunt for her maiden Ladies European Tour title at the Chateaux course in Bordeaux.

Things, however, were less satisfying for Diksha Dagar as she once again failed to make the cut following another poor round of golf that saw her finish with an aggregate score of 32-over 174 (89+85).

On the money

At the Bordeaux event, Tvesa Malik got the momentum rolling early in round 2 as she began with birdies at the first and the sixth to put herself in a prime position to challenge for the top spot.

Though the Indian golfer bogeyed the seventh, Malik sunk another birdie on the ninth to wrap up her front nine on a high.

The story was no different as she continued her charge on her way back to the clubhouse as well.

A birdie on the 11th was negated by a bogey on the 16th, but Tvesa Malik finished on a high with her fourth birdie of the round.

“I booked a one-way ticket from India so I am glad I have been able to play so much golf and It’s been really fun here in France. I am grateful for the opportunity to compete; the course is such a good set up,” Malik told LET.

Engstrom, meanwhile, came up with a fantastic seven-under show to take a step closer to what will be her second title on the tour following the Women’s NSW Open in March.

“The win in Australia was big for me because now I know I can win on the tour and I am happy to be in this position going into tomorrow. It’s nice to be out here with so many Swedish girls and the tour is so friendly which make me feel really comfortable,” the 19-year-old said following her second round.

The cut for the Ladies Open De France fell at two-over with 37 golfers making it to the weekend action.
