Indian golfer Diksha Dagar made a superb start at the Czech Ladies Open but lost ground late on.

It was a good couple of days for Indian golfers at the Czech Ladies Open as both Tvesa Malik and Diksha Dagar made the cut by the end of the second round.

Teeing off at the Beroun Golf Club, Malik returned a two-under-142 (two-under 70 in Round 1 and even-par 72 in Round 2) to end the second day with a share of 35th place on the leaderboard.

Her Indian compatriot Diksha Dagar wasn’t too far behind, with one-under-143 (two-under 70 in the first round and one-over 73 in the second) and will head into the final rounds tied 44th.

The cut was set at two-over.

Steady showing by Tvesa Malik

Having made the cut at the Scottish Open two weeks back, Tvesa Malik began well, carding a birdie and an eagle in the front nine of the first round. The youngster, though, dropped a shot late on the 16th hole to end day one tied-24 with two-under 70.

Starting Round 2 from the 10th, Malik carded a birdie on the 17th and held par in the rest of the back nine.

On the front nine, the 24-year-old managed a birdie on the sixth hole but bogeys in the fourth and seventh meant she registered an on-par 72 in the second round.

Diksha Dagar lets early surge slip

Diksha Dagar had a solid outing in the opening round, carding an eagle on the par-five second before solidifying her position with consecutive birdies on the sixth and seventh before a bogey on the final hole of the front nine.

On the back nine, Dagar struggled, carding two bogeys on the 13th and 15th but recovered right at the end with a birdie on the final hole, which incidentally was suspended till day 2 due to thunderstorms.

Starting Round 2 with a two under 70, the 19-year-old was even-par on the front nine with a bogey on the third and a birdie on the seventh. She, however, lost ground on the back nine with bogeys on the 11th and 12th and a birdie on the four-par tenth.

Her total of one under by the end of Round 2, however, was enough to finish tied-44 and earn her a cut.
