After missing out on the second stage, Indian archers are ready to get going at the Archery World Cup 2021 Stage 3 in Paris on Tuesday.

A total of 15 archers from India will be competing in the recurve and compound disciplines at the Charlety Stadium.

The women’s recurve team of Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakat and Komalika Bari will be fighting for a Tokyo spot at the final archery Olympics qualifier in Paris before participating in the World Cup.

Olympic-bound men’s recurve team of Atanu Das, Tarundeep Rai and Pravin Jadhav will be aiming to fine-tune their preparations before heading to Tokyo.

Along with the recurve archers, seven Indian compound archers - Abhishek Verma, Aman Saini, Rajat Chauhan, Akshita, Saanchi Dhalla, Pragati and Jyothi Vennam - will also be competing at the event.

The Indian archery contingent missed the second stage of the World Cup in Lausanne, Switzerland last month as they were unable to get visas due to the pandemic.

However, at the Stage 1 World Cup in Guatemala in April, the Indian recurve team had a successful campaign, returning with three golds and a bronze.

Deepika Kumari, ranked No. 3 in the world, won gold in the women’s recurve, while Atanu Das claimed the top honours in the men’s recurve category.

The Indian women’s team also won the gold medal and the mixed team returned with a bronze in Guatemala. The Indian compound team skipped the event following a positive COVID case, which later turned out to be erroneous.
