How to watch Malaysia at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 in 2023

Two-time Olympic and seven-time world medallist Pandelela Rinong Pamg and her synchro diving partner Nur Dhabitah Sabri, and track cycling star Azizulhasni Awang, lead the Malaysian team at the 19th Asian Games.

From 23 September to 8 October 2023, Malaysia will be represented by 292 athletes including Pandelela, Dhabitah, Azizulhasni, and badminton heroes Aaron Chia / Soh Wooi Yik and Lee Zii Jia in Hangzhou, People's Republic of China.

The team will be looking to improve on their 36-medal haul from 2018, despite sending a smaller delegation this time.

How many times has Malaysia taken part in the Asian Games?

Hangzhou 2022 is the 19th Asian Games, with Malaysia having joined the party at the second Asian Games in Manila in 1954.

The country has appeared at every Asiad since. It has never hosted the Asian Games.

Separately, it has also taken part in three Asian Winter Games, all six Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, and all five Asian Beach Games to date.

What’s Malaysia’s biggest medal tally at the Asian Games?

Malaysia achieved their highest medal tally at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, when the team came home with 42 medals (8 gold, 17 silver, 17 bronze).

The best return in terms of gold medals for Malaysia came at Guangzhou 2010, when the country won nine gold medals.

Malaysia has won 312 medals in total in Asian Games history, with 63 of them gold.

What was Malaysia’s medal tally at Asian Games 2018?

The 2018 Asian Games took place in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, with the Malaysian contingent consisting of 447 athletes.

Malaysia returned with 7 gold, 13 silver, and 16 bronze for a total of 36 medals. Cyclist Azizulhasni Awang was the most-decorated Malaysian at the Games, winning one gold, one silver, and one bronze.
