Wrestling at Tokyo 2020 begins on Sunday 1 August, and there will be an exciting mix of talent from the United States on show.
It is a huge achievement in itself for USA grapplers to make their Olympic team, with the star-studded USA Trials in April producing a few surprises like Kyle Dake’s victory over London 2012 Olympic champ Jordan Burroughs.
It also means the selected athletes are used to performing under pressure.
From reigning Olympic champs Kyle Snyder and Helen Maroulis to Games debutants Tamyra Mensah-Stock and David Taylor, there will be gold medal threats aplenty in Japan wearing red, white and blue.

Team USA: Wrestlers to watch at Tokyo 2020
Greco-Roman
G'Angelo Hancock - On Olympic debut after finishing third at Trials in 2016. The 97kg wrestler won silver at the 2019 Pan American Games and gold at the 2020 Pan American Championships.
Women’s freestyle
Adeline Gray - Top-seed in the 97kg category. Gray is a five-time world champion, but is looking for her first Olympic gold medal after a quarter-final exit at Rio 2016.
Tamyra Mensah-Stock - Top-seed in the 68kg category. The Olympic debutant won the 2019 World Championships and is the favourite to land gold in Tokyo.
Helen Maroulis - The 53kg reigning Olympic champion took a break from the sport in 2018 after a serious concussion injury, but has since returned to form with a confident Trials victory.

Men’s freestyle
Kyle Snyder - The 97kg reigning Olympic champion is seeded second for Tokyo, behind 86kg Olympic champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev. The rivals have both tasted victory against each other and a rematch in the final would be epic

Kyle Dake - The two-time 79kg world champion won the showdown of the Trials against Burroughs 3-0, and will make his Olympic debut at 74kg

David Taylor - The 2018 world champion is back from injury and is the strong favourite for Olympic gold at 86kg. An entertainer known for his creativity and aggression.
