Three-time world champion Noah Lyles and 400m world record holder Wayde Van Niekerk will be among the headline acts at the 2023 Racers Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour silver event.
Lyles will race in the 200m on Saturday’s (3 Jun) at Kingston’s National Stadium, his second event over the distance this year. His other 200m dash was at the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Florida.
The U.S. star sprinter has been in brilliant form so far this season as he eyes another world title after Doha 2019 and last year in Eugene, when he ran the third-fastest 200m time in history.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallist over 200m has been focusing more on the 100m this year. He doubled up in Gainesville on 14 and 15 April, where he won both sprints.
Lyles finished second on 23 April at the Athletics Spring Invitational, National Training Centre, Clermont and at the USATF Bermuda Grand Prix last month.
He was also the star over the 150m Adidas City Games in Atlanta.
Lyles brother Josephus, and 200m Olympic silver medallist Kenneth Bednarek (USA) will also be at the Racers Grand Prix.
Wayde van Niekerk: Back to his winning ways
It will be his second major race for Rio 2016 Olympic champion. The South African 400m ace won a fifth national title at the South African Championships in April, and the 30-year-old is also scheduled to compete at the Diamond League event in Oslo on 15 June.
The two-time world champion has a point to prove.

Besides the two world champions, Nigeria’s 100m hurldes world record holder Tobi Amusan Jamaica's 200m world gold medallist Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson will also feature in Kingston.
Other confirmed local stars are Tokyo Olympics 100m hurdles bronze medallist Megan Tapper, double world triple jump medallist Shanieka Ricketts, Tina Clayton, the 2022 World U20 100m champion among others.
