Caitlin Rooskrantz is used to the attention.
Last year, the 20-year-old artistic gymnast became the first South African to compete in an Olympics since Athens 2004 as well as the first athlete of colour to represent her country in gymnastics at the Games.
Now the trailblazer has another opportunity to make history.
On Monday 1 August Rooskrantz will challenge for the first South African Commonwealth gymnastics gold medal in the women's uneven bars competition. Earlier this year, she won her first FIG World Artistic Gymnastics World Cup gold in Cairo, Egypt, setting her up well for the event in Birmingham.
But the task before her won't be easy. She faces a field that includes the 2018 defending champion Georgia-Mae Fenton of Team England, who qualified in first with a score of 14.000, as well as freshly minted silver medallist in the women's team event Georgia Godwin of Australia, who qualified in third (13.650).
The 24-year-old uneven bars bronze medallist from Gold Coast 2018 put on an inspiring display for her country in Saturday's team final and is also through to the finals in the vault and beam.
