When the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 officially open on Friday (19 January), K-pop artists will be at the forefront of the celebrations.

The Opening Ceremony, which will take place at two separate arenas simultaneously, will see Korean culture celebrated by artists, dancers, and singers.

At the Gangneung Oval, spectators will get to enjoy acts such as boy band LUN8, girl band Triple S, rappers Ash Island and Changmo, dancers Ambiguous Dance Company, and traditional band Lennalchi.

Kim Taeyeon is among the headline musical acts at the PyeongChang Dome. They include singer Hwasa and rapper BewhY, dancers 1 Million Dance Studio, and the Philippines boy band Hori7on, who are based in Korea.

K-pop stars have been involved at various stages of the Gangwon 2024 YOG, having also taken part in the 100 days to go countdown and start of the Gangwon 2024 Torch Tour.

Back then, the bands Itzy and Riize, rapper Lee Young-ji, and punk group Crying Nut performed for an audience of 7,000 people in the Republic of Korea capital Seoul.

The Gangwon 2024 YOG will take place at legacy venues used in the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.

That year, the K-pop supergroup EXO and rapper CL of the girl group 2NE1 performed at the Closing Ceremony.
