Gangwon 2024 update: France triumph in snowboard cross with stellar medal haul, including mixed team gold and silver
Team France emerged as one of the top countries on the slopes at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) with five medals in the SBX events including a gold and silver in the mixed team competition at Gangwon 2024.
The snowboard cross (SBX) events have concluded at the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) and with the results now in, a clear pattern has emerged: France dominated.
Out of a possible nine the French team picked up five medals at these Youth Olympics, with three of their riders, Jonas Chollet, Maja-Li Iafrate Danielsson, and Lea Casta, all claiming two each.
Chollet and Casta took gold for France 1 in the mixed team event, flashing the same skills that had seen them excel in the individual contests the day before, where Chollet took gold in the men's competition and Casta a bronze in the women's.
There was also a double delight for Iafrate Danielsson who added a second silver to her YOG collection after crossing the line in second with Benjamin Niel as France 2 in the mixed event.
The pair, hot on the heels of their compatriots, pipped Australia to the number two spot on the podium to establish France as a commanding force in the discipline.
