The FISU World University Games 2023 in Chengdu in the People’s Republic of China showcasds some of the best university student-athletes on the planet between 28 July and 8 August.
The 31st edition of the World University Games, formerly the Universiade, was initially scheduled for 2021 but was postponed twice due to COVID-19 restrictions. The biennial showpiece attracts more than 9,500 athletes participating in 18 different sporting codes with 269 medals on offer.
At the last edition in Naples 2019, Japan bowed out as the top-performing nation topping the table with 82 medals - 33 gold, 21 silver, and 28 bronze.
