Defending champions Belgium will take on two-time champions Germany in the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 final in Bhubaneswar, India on Sunday. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM India time.

Tom Boon has been the top scorer for Belgium in the hockey World Cup 2023 with seven goals from five matches, one behind leader Jeremy Hayward of Australia. Niklas Wellen has been Germany’s top-scorer with six goals in as many matches.
Both Germany and Belgium started their hockey World Cup 2023 campaign in Pool B. The two teams have been unbeaten in the tournament with their group match against each other ending in a 2-2 draw.
However, the Belgian hockey team, which won the hockey World Cup in 2018, hold the edge in the fixture. In their last 16 matches dating back to mid-2017, Belgium have won 10 times while Germany have won just once. The remaining five matches were drawn. The German hockey team’s sole win in that period came in November last year in the FIH Pro League.
Germany have won the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup twice – in 2002 and 2006. In the last edition, they were ousted in the quarter-finals. They are set to play in their fifth hockey World Cup final. Belgium are only making their second appearance in the final.
