Germany beat Belgium in the penalty shootout to win the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 in Odisha, India on Sunday. 

The two finalists also dominated the list of individual awardees as players from Germany and Belgium won the most prizes at the hockey World Cup. 

Germany’s Niklas Wellen, the player of the match in the final against Belgium, also bagged the best player and the best forward of the tournament award. 

Niklas Wellen started Germany’s turnaround in the final against Belgium after his team was trailing 2-0. Niklas Wellen scored seven goals for Germany at the World Cup in as many matches. Get all the FIH World Cup 2023 stats here.

Belgian goalkeeper Vincent Vanasch was adjudged the best goalkeeper while Australia’s Jeremy Hayward was named best defender of the hockey World Cup. Hayward, with nine goals from six matches, also ended up as the top scorer at the hockey World Cup 2023
