Over 1000 athletes from 155 countries took part in the 2023 Fencing World Championships.
There were important qualifying points for Paris 2024 at stake, and world champions crowned at 12 different events across the three traditional weapons of épée, foil, and sabre.
It was the eighth time that Italy staged the World Fencing Championships.

- Women's sabre final - Emura Misaki (JPN) defeats Despina Georgiadou (GRE), 15-11
- Men's foil final - Tommaso Marini (ITA) defeats Nick Itkin (USA), 15-13
Friday 28 July
- Women's team epee final - Poland beat Italy, 32-28
- Men's team sabre final - Hungary beat Republic of Korea 45-42.
Saturday 29 July
- Women's team foil final - Italy beat France 45-39.
- Men's team épée final - Italy beat France 45-32.
Sunday 30 July
- Women's team sabre final - Hungary beat France 45-38.
