Carolina Marin is through to the women's badminton singles final at the European Games after beating Great Britain's Kirsty Gilmour in two games on Saturday (1 July).

Spain's Rio 2016 Olympic gold medallist won 21-13, 21-11 to continue her dominant run in Krakow so far.

Marin will meet Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt in Sunday's final with the 30-year-old left-hander on the brink of a seventh consecutive European title.

In the men’s singles semi-finals, world number one Viktor Axelsen took down France's Toma Junior Popov in straight sets (21-17, 21-18) and will play his younger brother Christo Popov for gold

The competition counts towards the BWF World Ranking, which will later be used to determine qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
