12 gold medals are at stake on day six: half of them will be assigned at the Olympiastadion where the main highlight will be the 100m men's and women's finals.
Italy's Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs will be eager to prove his fitness after an injury-blighted season saw him pull out early at the Worlds.
Among his prospective rivals is Great Britain’s Zharnel Hughes, who won the continental title four years ago in Berlin.
In the women's event Dina Asher-Smith is poised to defend her European crown over the distance but she faces a stiff competition from Switzerland's Mujinga Kambundji, who was fifth in the world 100m final in Oregon.
Several other Tokyo 2020 gold medallists will feature on the night, including Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the 5,000m and Mitiadis Tentoglou of Greece in the long jump.
