After an impressive display in their Round of 16 encounter against World No.7 Indonesian pair of Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto, the Indian duo of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy made further headlines as they entered the semifinals of the 2019 Thailand Open Super-500 tournament in Bangkok on Friday.

Up against the South Korean pair of Choi Solgyu and Seo Seung Jae, Shetty and Reddy demonstrated terrific skills and coordination to take the first game 21-17. The Koreans however, fought back and won the second game by the same margin. In the decider, the Indian pair rediscovered their flair and held their nerve to win the game 21-19.

They will now face another South Korean duo in Ko Sung Hyun and Shin Baek Cheol in the last four of the competition.

The Indians, who are the current Commonwealth Games men’s doubles silver medallists, began their Thailand campaign with a Round of 32 clash against fellow Indian opposition Attri Manu and Reddy Sumeeth. The match saw the former emerge victorious by a 21-11 24-26 21-11 margin.
