The full roster of teams for the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and United States has been confirmed following the conclusion of the African region qualifiers.
The global T20 showpiece will feature 20 nations including hosts United States and the West Indies in the tournament that will run from 4 to 30 June 2024.
All teams were confirmed on Thursday (30 November) after Uganda and Namibia booked their places during the final African qualifier tournament. Beating Rwanda by nine wickets, Uganda secured their place and will become only the fifth African nation to feature at a T20 World Cup.
Uganda and Namibia were among six other regional qualifiers joining the top eight finishers from the last edition in 2022, including defending champions England. Afghanistan and Bangladesh, the next-best teams in the world rankings, also earned automatic qualification. Jamaica and the United States earned automatic qualification as joint hosts of the 2024 tournament.
West Indies and England have been the most successful teams in the T20 format winning two titles apiece across eight editions since the inaugural tournament in 2007 in South Africa. India, Australia, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan have also tasted victory in the shortest form of the sport.
The T20 World Cup will attract additional attention after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed in October that cricket would be one of five sports approved for inclusion in Los Angeles 2028.
