The Indian table tennis contingent will be keen to maintain its reputation at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham after clinching eight medals in the last edition at Gold Coast 2018.

All eyes will be on Sharath Kamal, Manika Batra, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and reigning national champion Sreeja Akula. Watch CWG table tennis matches on live streaming.

The Indian table tennis players will be in action in all events at Birmingham 2022 – men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. Table tennis will be played at the National Exhibition Centre in Solihull.

The 40-year-old Sharath Kamal, who will appear in his fifth CWG, clinched bronze in men's singles four years ago after beating Samuel Walker of England in the medal match. The loss against Quadri Aruna of Nigeria in the semi-finals crushed the Indian’s gold medal hopes, but Sharath Kamal has a chance to redeem himself in Birmingham.

Manika Batra brought India the first gold medal in singles after ending Singaporean supremacy in 2018. She launched a ruthless attack to unsettle Yu Mengyu in the finals after getting the better of Feng Tianwei in the semi-finals.

G Sathiyan had made his CWG debut at Gold Coast. He was part of the men's team that blanked Nigeria 3-0 for gold. He also displayed his class in the all-Indian fight for bronze in the mixed doubles. Along with Manika Batra, Sathiyan beat the pair of Sharath-Mouma Das. The 29-year-old has improved by leaps and bounds after gaining experience in the Summer Olympics and the Asian Games since then.

Sreeja Akula beat five-time champion Mouma Das in the senior nationals in April to become a medal prospect for India in the women's singles. Her strength lies in top-spin forehand and the backhand chop with pimple rubber.

India will face stiff competition from England, Nigeria, Singapore and Canada.
