Commonwealth Games 2022: Schedule, athletes, how to watch day seven - 4 August
Discover the full schedule for day seven of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games on Thursday 4 August 2022.
Day seven of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will host 15 medal events.
Two of those will be provided by the road cycling time trial event.
The men’s field for this event looks particularly stacked with Wales’ super cyclist Geraint Thomas, hot off the Tour de France, back to try and improve on his bronze from Glasgow 2014.
With the conclusion of swimming yesterday diving will take centre stage today at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre.
Malaysian veteran Pandelela Rinong will go in the 10m platform, an event she last won at the Commonwealth Games back in 2010 in New Delhi, India.
Rinong has banked other Commonwealth silverware since then including gold in the 10m synchronised diving event on the Gold Coast four years ago. Today will be all about the individual crown and having just picked up a bronze at the 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest, she will be strong favourite.
The hosts will also have a big name to cheer on when 2016 Olympic gold medallist Jack Laugher begins his Commonwealth campaign in the men’s 1m springboard.
After the delights of the 100m there will be more excitement from track and field as Jamaican Olympic champion Hansle Parchment goes for glory in the men’s 110m hurdles. He is returning from an injury that kept him out of the recent World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
