Olympic gold medallist, Chloe Kim is set to return to snowboard competition next week, for the first time since the Beijing 2022 Olympics.

Kim’s first event will be the Laax Open in Switzerland that begins on Tuesday 16 January 2024. The American will then move on Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado (26-28 January), and at the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix on 3 February at her home resort of Mammoth Mountain.

It will be 22 months since the Team USA star took gold on the halfpipe in Beijing. She ‘took time off snow’ but has been training hard for her return.

“I wasn’t just, like, drinking piña coladas on the beach and going on vacation. I was still in the gym every single day. I was still working and training. So the time off was really just time off of snow,” she said, according to NBC Sports.

Kim,23, is already in Switzerland ready to kick off her 2024 season.

“Currently in LAAX Switzerland to get some training/pow in before my first few competitions back! Gonna be a fun season!” she posted on social media site Instagram.

Kim, who at PyeongChang 2018 became the youngest woman to win an Olympic snowboarding gold medal, remains as hungry to win as always.

"The worst anxiety actually comes from just traveling there and not knowing and hoping that you can still do this. But the minute you drop in, you quickly remember.”

“I’m pretty content, but the competitor in me still wants more, so definitely wasn’t just dilly-dallying in Saas-Fee,” she said. “I was grinding and messing around with new tricks, which is always fun for me. That’s where I get my adrenaline from.”
