Lee Zii Jia will hope to take his badminton resurgence from the recent Australian Open into the upcoming BWF Badminton World Championships, taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 21–27 August. The tournament is available to stream live on Olympic Channel via Olympics.com (territorial restrictions may apply).

After suffering four consecutive first-round eliminations on the BWF World Tour, the Malaysian finally broke his spell of first-round exits with a semi-final run in Sydney at the start of this month.

However, the Malaysian – whose world ranking had tumbled out of the top 16 during his barren run of form – is unseeded for the tournament, resulting in a nightmare first-round draw: Indonesia's fifth seed Jonatan Christie stands in his way in the round of 64.

In the event he gets past his tough first opponent, the current world number 13 will face an unseeded rival in the second round. Denmark's Anders Antonsen is the potential seed awaiting him in the last 16 if he gets that far.
