Singapore's Loh Kean Yew will go for a second badminton world title when he competes at the BWF Badminton World Championships, taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 21–27 August. The tournament is available to stream live on Olympic Channel via Olympics.com (territorial restrictions may apply).

Loh, the 2021 world champion, is the seventh seed in the Danish capital, and on paper should make it to at least the round of 16 fairly easily. However, the 26-year-old has had an inconsistent season so far, reaching the finals at both the Asia Championships and Korea Open as well as suffering first-round knockouts.

In Copenhagen, the Singaporean will open his campaign against Spaniard Pablo Abián. It will be the second straight year the two have met in the opening round, with Loh winning last season. Azerbaijan's Indonesian-born shuttler Ade Resky Dwicanto or the American Justin Ma await in the second round as long as Loh sees off the upset.

India's H.S. Prannoy is the likely seed awaiting Loh in the round of 16, with a potential quarter-final clash against reigning world champion Viktor Axelsen on the cards.
