From 7-13 October, the top under-19 badminton players come together in Nanchang, People's Republic of China, to contest the BWF World Junior Championships 2024.
Each of the world under-19 top five men's singles players are taking part, including two Chinese players on home soil – world junior number one Hu Zhe An and number four Wang Zijung, making the men's singles the most stacked of the five categories in terms of top-ranked players competing.
Six of the top ten under-19 women are also in action in Nanchang, although top-ranked Miyazaki Tomoka of Japan is not, preferring instead to compete in the senior Arctic Open in Finland.
That leaves Thailand's Sarunrak Vitidsarn as the women's singles top seed. If that name sounds familiar, yes, she is the younger sister of Kunlavut, the 2023 men's senior world champion and 2024 Olympic silver medallist.
