US Open winner John Rahm has had quite the few days. On Sunday he not only won his first major but became the first Spanish-born player to win the US Open. Today (Tuesday 22 June) has been named as one of the field of 60 to take part in the men's Tokyo 2020 Olympic golf tournament, which begins Thursday 29 July.
Ireland's Rory McIlroy, big-hitting American Bryson DeChambeau and Japan's history-making Masters winner, MATSUYAMA Hideki also make the list along with 2018 Ryder Cup-winning Brits (for Europe), Paul Casey and Tommy Fleetwood.
The field was drawn from the Official World Golf Ranking after the US Open finished on Sunday. The women's draw will be taken from the Rolex Rankings following the Women’s PGA Championship next week.
Big names not participating in the Summer Games in Japan, after withdrawing from contention, include Spain's Sergio Garcia, America's Dustin Johnson, Australia's Adam Scott and Germany's Martin Kaymer.
No country can qualify more than four golfers (and no more than two if any are ranked outside the top 15), which is why world number 340, Anirban Lahiri of India also made the cut.
