The Texas Rangers have won their first World Series in the club's 63-season-history after defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 on Wednesday night (1 November) to wrap up the best-of-seven-series 4-1.
After six scoreless innings, Rangers shortstop Corey Seager finally scored the first run in the seventh. The Texans added four more runs in the ninth to comfortably take baseball's most coveted prize.
With this championship, Rangers' Bruce Bochy became just the sixth manager in the long history of Major League Baseball (MLB) to win at least four World Series titles.
"I am so honoured by these guys. They inspire me with how resilient they have been," said Bochy. "To be part of this, I know how blessed I am. I can't thank these guys enough."
Seager won the World Series MVP Award for the second time in his career after having clinched it with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2020.
