Hosts People's Republic of China are now a perfect four-from-four in artistic gymnastics events at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou after Zuo Tong secured women's all-around glory on Wednesday (27 September 2023).

Zuo led Japan's Okamura Mana by 0.567 points heading into the last rotation on floor, and with Okamura competing ahead of her, the 17-year-old Zuo knew exactly what she required – 12.499 or better.

A slight stumble on her second tumbling pass that saw her step backwards out of bounds was not enough to harm her chances, as she obtained 13.166 on floor for a total of 53.565 points.

Okamura, who also impressed on all four apparatus, settled for silver on 52.898.

The bronze medal went to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea gymnast Kim Su Jong on 51.466. She overtook her teammate An Chang Ok on floor after An had a troubled routine, going out of bounds and sitting down on the landing to her third pass.

Zuo's teammate Zhang Jin was left in tears at a fourth-place finish on 50.899. Zhang looked nervous on uneven bars and fell three times, which almost definitely cost her a spot on the podium.

China have now won golds in the men's team, women's team, men's all-around, and women's all-around at the 2023 event. The women's final was shorn of big names, with teams choosing instead to focus on the World Championships in Belgium.
