Asian Games 2023 tennis: India’s results, scores and medal winners

An Indian tennis team comprising nine players featured at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, the People’s Republic of China, from September 24-30. The Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Tennis Centre staged all the tennis matches.

Tennis has been a part of the Asian Games programme since 1958 and has been played at every edition since then, with the exception of 1970.

India have now won 34 medals - 10 gold medals, seven silver medals and 17 bronze - in tennis at the continental meet.

Indian tennis players won two medals at Asian Games 2023 - a gold in mixed doubles (Rohan Bopanna/Rutuja Bhosale) and a silver in men's doubles (Ramkumar Ramanathan/Saketh Myneni).

At Jakarta 2018, the Indian tennis contingent had picked up three medals. The duo of Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan bagged the gold medal in men’s doubles. Ankita Rana and Pranjesh Gunneswaran won a bronze in women’s and men’s singles, respectively.

Former Indian tennis players Rohit Rajpal and Ankita Bhambri were selected as non-playing captains of the men’s and women’s teams, respectively. Veteran doubles ace Rohan Bopanna, who won two ATP titles this year, led the men’s unit.

Sumit Nagal, India’s top-ranked singles tennis player, participated in the men’s singles event. Ankita Rana, who took home a singles bronze at Jakarta 2018, spearheaded the women contingent at Hangzhou 2023.

Prarthana Thombare, a bronze medallist from Incheon 2014, featured in the women’s doubles.
