16-year-old Clervie Ngounoue of the United States took home tennis' Wimbledon girl's singles title Sunday (16 July), defeating the Czech Republic's Nikola Bartunkova 6-2, 6-2.

"I'm really excited that this is my first," said Ngounoue, according to ESPN. "It was a battle out there."

It was a first junior grand slam title for the American, whose previous best finish were quarterfinal appearances at both the 2023 French Open and the 2022 U.S. Open.

Ngounoue's win gives the U.S. its second-straight victory in the girl's tournament at Wimbledon, after Liv Hovde took the crown a year ago.
