Chen Yile is the 2017 Asian Junior champion and a three-time gold medalist at the 2018 Asian Games, winning the team, all-around and balance beam titles.
Originally from Jiangxi Province, Chen moved to Guangdong Province to train prior to becoming part of the Chinese national team.
She announced herself as a star in the making with those three golds at the Asian Games in Jakarta.
Chen followed up that performance by helping China to team bronze at the 2018 World Championships in Doha.
She was the highest-placed Chinese in the individual all-around final in seventh, just 1.100 and 1.066 behind fellow All Around stars Morgan Hurd (bronze) and Angelina Melnikova (fifth) respectively.
The 17-year-old missed May's Chinese nationals due to wrist and ankle injuries, but she has recently resumed training as she bids to compete at October’s World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany.
When she is not training, Chen is an aspiring artist and often shares her creations on her Weibo page.
