With Cristiano Ronaldo in the side, Al Nassr FC will aim to win the Saudi Pro League for the 10th time this season.
The Saudi Pro League 2022-23 season started on August 25, 2022, and will conclude on May 31, 2023. A total of 16 football teams play in the league in a home-and-away format.
While the league winners qualify for the AFC Champions League, the bottom two teams are relegated to the Saudi First Division League, which is the second tier of professional football in Saudi Arabia.
Al Nassr led the Saudi Pro League 2022-23 points table in mid-January before Cristiano Ronaldo’s club debut on January 22 against Ettifaq FC. Al Nassr’s only defeat of the season ahead of Ronaldo’s arrival came against Al Taawoun. Al Nassr lost 1-0.
Al Nassr are currently engaged in a close battle with Al Hilal, Al Ittihad and Al Shabab for the top spot on the Saudi Pro League 2022-23 points table.
Al Hilal FC, champions of the 2021-22 season, are the most successful Saudi Pro League club with 18 titles. Al Nassr, meanwhile, have won nine titles with their last win coming in the 2018-19 season.
Apart from playing in the Saudi Pro League, Al Nassr will also play in the King Cup of Champions 2022-23 and Saudi Super Cup 2023 - both Saudi Arabia’s domestic cup competitions.
